Let it snow, let it snow

Toronto got recently a lot of snow fall, and I have been going nuts at trying to get some free time to capture all this white madness. The fun thing about painting is that you get to really savor the scene, more than just glancing at it and saying "oh that is nice". Here are two new pieces, of course done at High Park.

Where did you learn about colour? Did it just come from practice and observation or did you learn theory as well? Your paintings are amazing, I am afraid of colour but you make me want to try anyway :)

(p.s. have you ever considered taking pictures throughout the painting to show your process? I love seeing "behind the scenes" of art in progress, though I know sometimes it takes you out of the zone when you're working...)

Ау, ова два рада су ти стварно врхунска! Свака част!

Па ето, јави се догодине кад дођеш у Србију, па да се упознамо. Не верујем да ћу у међувремену свраћати до Торонта. :о)

Thanks Trevor!

Hi Heather, thank you for such a lovely comment.
Well to be honest with you, I don't think I know too much about colour. In fact every time I paint it somehow feels as if it is my first time. But, it is getting slowly a more familiar process, a bit clearer and less confusing.

I read some books, watched painters paint, and most of all I always try just to observe, see and put that down on paper. I also paint studies of paintings from painters that I admire. This has helped me a lot! I highly recommend this practice. You have planted a seed for a tutorial. I have never considered it before so I will keep it in mind. Here is a link to a tutorial from my favorite artist, Bill Cone. http://billcone.blogspot.com/2010/10/evolution-of-studio-piece.html

Hvala na komplimentu Vladimire!
Moji su u Batajnici, tako da Novi Sad nije daleko. Cuo sam da je jako lijep grad :)
